I make beautiful choices

There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I’m going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts. —Elizabeth Gilbert

This has been my mantra lately. I am a very reactional person I sort of float and make decisions based on what life presents. I like this about me, and don’t really wish to change it. I feel that it is a highly adaptive trait, and one that has served me quite well in life. But sometimes I take it to the extreme… I am often overwhelmed when forced to make a decision that is not restricted by some factor. Even when given a narrow range of choices, I sometimes have trouble. So I want to be more deliberate in the creation of my life, one choice at a time, to include that which resonates and furthers my cause. I love the randomness of life…and want to continue embracing it with fervor, as I always have…but when it is my turn to choose, I want to make each choice a beautiful one!
