I get excited whenever I hear about hybrids: how popular they are and how popular they will be, and especially the trends to be seen! I love the fact that I can find this simple pleasure in an issue of Wired magazine.

I’m a Ford girl through and through. Even though I really, really wanted to buy that Toyota Prius as my first car, I couldn’t stand the thought of not owning a Ford. I ended up with my hot off the presses Ford Focus for a few reasons.
1. It’s the most “recycled” car Ford makes—in other words, it’s made of recycled cars.
2. It meets the EPA low emissions standards for the state of California. Why Michigan doesn’t have these standards I’ll never know. I wish Michigan had a carpool lane that I was qualified to zip through.
Well, four months and 5,000 miles later, I can’t remember all the other reasons I decided to Focus this. But I did, and I can’t even tell you how happy I am with my vehicle.
There’s one thing people do with their cars that irritates me: naming them. I’ve driven plenty o’ cars and never felt like I needed to name one. So when someone was telling me about her new car (complete with name) and asked me my car’s name, I bit back with Chocolat Chaud and she tried to say it but I’ll be the first one to tell you it took me six months of visiting Tim Hortons in Sarnia before I could pronounce it right.
So I named my car. No one can pronounce his name to my liking. I nicknamed him Zern because that’s part of my license plate (it was hell trying to find my new car those first few days of college).
One step closer to environmental friendliness.
