I really do enjoy a good movie from time to time. I also, however, have the ADD. I love the idea of being entertained for 90-160 minutes (damn you, Tarantino), but when TiVo’s got 14 episodes of Law and Order, what’s a girl to do?

Netflix is great. Checked out to me (since the end of April, mind you) is Kill Bill Vol. 2, House of Flying Daggers, and bits and pieces of the first season of Dynasty. The soap was no problem to watch, but those pesky movies… Maybe I’m just not in a kung-fu mood too often. I don’t know what the deal is, but this weekend I watched it all and didn’t die from boredom, so that’s good.

To kick off my feature film trifecta, Don and I saw Monster-In-Law in the theatre, which (too bad for Ebert and Roeper) I actually liked. I’m building myself up to the LOTR three-in-a-row. I am really psyched to do it!

Next on Netflix is the finale DVD of Dynasty, followed by HBO’s Entourage Season 1 and the first season of Mr. Show. Then I might throw in another movie (In Good Company?).

With 290 movies in my queue, I’ve gotta start somewhere.

I am so bad at media management. I’ve got CDs I’ve never listened to, XBOX games I’ve never played, and DVDs I’ve never watched. It’s so bad with the DVDs that I actually still have some in their wrappers! When I saw this goal on 43 Things, I knew I had to add it. It’s just not worth it—having 600 DVDs and never watching them.

So. Months and months ago, I started selling my CDs on Amazon after I had ripped them to my HD. Last month I decided to join Netflix and sell all my DVDs, too. To validate the expense, I decided that if I cut down my purchases by 2 DVDs a month (~$30), then my 5-at-a-time Netflix account is totally worth it. It’s been a month and I’ve watched a $90 DVD set brought to us by the fine folks at HBO, a DVD I hadn’t yet purchased but wanted to see, and others. All amounting to 25 disks in the first month. If we say each disk is worth $10 (each disk of a TV series is separate), then between me, AJ, and the Riz, we’ve watched $250 worth of DVDs (DVDs that I would regularly buy) for $30.

This feels good.
