I think I convinced 23 months ago

my friend to come with me to an Obama meetup tonight. Actually, she says the election in NH convinced her. But whatever, I am the one who invited her to come. We will see if there is anything I actually have time to sign up for.

I’m going to a fundraiser Tuesday for a candidate for governor. He’s going to be there. I’m pretty excited, I’ve never been to a fundraiser this nice before.

Still haven’t done any real campaign work. I just don’t have enough time these days to commit to anything. I need to figure out what I can do that doesn’t involve a 3-day trip to New Hampshire.

Meeting Saturday at 11 in NW for Barack Obama supporters.

Make-up property class Saturday at 10.

I might just have to skip out of class early.

Just kidding, class isn’t this Saturday! I now have no excuse. Message me if you’re in DC and want to go with.

Just an idea 3 years ago

The session with our section’s peer advisors gave me an idea. I’ve been thinking about getting a legal job in the third or fourth year of law school, but I’m not sure what I want to do exactly, or how the timing would work. I’ve also thought it might be cool to get a job as a law clerk for a judge.

So the peer advisors were talking about how a bunch of people in their class transferred to the full-time program because it was an election year and they all lost their jobs when the Kerry campaign ended. I realized that at the end of my second year I’ll be done with this long-term project at work and it will be in the middle of the 2008 election year. It would be a perfect chance for me to work full-time on a campaign for the summer and even through November so that I have time to look for another job by winter. I have plenty of time to think this over, of course, but I’m a little excited already…

Today kicks off the summer campaign season for the 2006 Congressional election. There are 33 competitive seats in the U.S. Senate this year.

I worked on campaigns helping my parents when I was a kid, and I’ve always voted in primaries and general elections in Kentucky and Georgia, but I haven’t actively joined a candidate’s campaign since high school. During the 2000 election I spent an afternoon mailing postcards from the Kentucky Democratic Headquarters and I was a nonpartisan volunteer for the media exit polls reporting the vote count for a particular precinct in Frankfort. That was a lot of fun.
