My most vivid memory of my encounter of this word is when I read “Red Dragon” by Thomas Harris. Dr. Hannibal Lecter served sweetbread, which is made from the out-of-tune violinist he killed earlier, to his guests. Disturbing book but it’s still one of the best thriller I’ve read.
