1. Laughing lowers levels of stress hormones and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day. —from Trivia Today

2. The most common blood type in the world is Type O. The rarest, Type A-H, has been found in less than a dozen people since the type was discovered. from trivia Today
A-H is diffrent from A-B or it’s just another term/word for that type?

1. The Vatican’s Swiss Guard still wears a uniform designed by Michelangelo in the early 16th century. —from Trivia Today

I want to see the Vatican’s Swiss Guards in person—someday.

2.The original name of Los Angeles was El Pueblo de
Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles del rio Porciuncula, translating into: The Village of our Lady the Queen of the Angels of the Porciuncula River. —from Trivia Today

Woah! So long! If I live in Los Angeles at the time when it was still using this name, I would probably relocate to some other place. My address would be too long. My letters will probably months later.hehehe…

1. In South East Asia, the banana leaf is used to wrap food (in the place of plastic bags and cling wraps), providing a unique flavor and aroma to nasi lemak and the Indian banana leaf rice. —from Trivia Today
In the Philippines, aside from banana leaf, we use “tanglad” (I don’t know the English translation of this grass-like plant)in wrapping our rice when we cook it. Aside from making the rice smell good, the leaf also prevents the rice from sticking to the pot. I think, other Southeast Asian countries employ this method also to prevent the rice from sticking.

2. The most abundant metal in the Earth’s crust is aluminum. It is also one of the most difficult to extract. —from Trivia Today

3. The Chinese were using aluminum to make things as early as 300 AD Western civilization didn’t rediscover aluminum until 1827. —from Trivia Today

1.A magic potion or charm thought to arouse sexual love, es-
pecially toward a specific person, is known as a “philter.”—from Trivia Today

2. A small European plum named a “sloe” is used to flavor the
liqueur called “sloe gin.” You should probably sip it
slowly, but that has nothing to do with its name. —from Trivia Today

3. Rio is Spanish for “river,” so “Rio Grande River” is a
redundancy. Just write “Rio Grande.” Non-Hispanic Americans
have traditionally failed to pronounce the final E in
“Grande”, but they’ve learned to do it for the large size
of latte, so perhaps it’s time to start saying it the proper
Spanish way: “REE-oh GRAHN-day.” Or to be really inter-
national we could switch to the Mexican name: “Rio Bravo.”—from Trivia Today

1. “Jealousy is being nervous about something that has never, and probably won’t ever, belong to you.”

A quote by Alice Walker from her work “In Love and Troubles” (I’m not very sure about the title but it’s something like that). I’ve read this quote about 30 minutes ago while at was waiting for my College English professor. This was posted on her cubicle wall. So far, this definition of jealousy is the most unique I’ve ever read.

2. “Courage is fear that has said its prayers.”

I can’t remember where I got this quote. I just posted it on my shout-aout at Friendster. I like this one also.

3

1. If all morning newspapers read around the country were
recycled, 41,000 trees would be saved daily and 6 million
tons of waste would never end up in landfills. —from Trivia Today

2

1. The largest item on any menu in the world is probably the
roast camel, sometimes served at Bedouin wedding feasts.
The camel is stuffed with a sheep’s carcass, which is
stuffed with chickens, which are stuffed with fish, which
are stuffed with eggs. —from Trivia Today

2. Sweetbread is neither sweet, nor bread. It is a dish made
up of the pancreas or the thymus gland of a calf or lamb. —from Trivia Today
My most vivid memory of my encounter of this word is when I read “Red Dragon” by Thomas Harris. Dr. Hannibal Lecter served sweetbread, which is made from the out-of-tune violinist he killed earlier, to his guests. Disturbing book but it’s still one of the best thriller I’ve read. And Dr. Hannibal is the best male villain of all times for me. For the female, it is Catherine Tremall of Basic Instinct.

1. Termites eat through wood two times faster when listening
to rock music.—from “Trivia Today”
