run 10k in under 45mins

... i’ve entered my first ‘real’ 10k. the bupa great capital run 2007 which will be held in hyde park in july.

now, i’m a tad out of shape; i’ve been a little lazy recently… and guess what? i’m paying the price. hmm. it would be embarrassing to limp across that finish line last. very embarrassing. this calls for some serious training. it would be amazing to get in in under 45mins… although i’m not confident. i can but try :)

better start watching rocky again.

... stands at: 26:17.53 (Kenenisa Bekele). and i read a letter to a running magazine from a gentleman who ran his last 10k in 46mins. he is in his 60s. and he submitted his time by e-mail, the smug git. i can’t even lord the ‘young and technically literate’ card, damnit!

i feel pretty pathetic now. considering the huffing and puffing and sweating and heartache i go through to scrape in at just under an hour.
