I went to the cutest consignment store this weekend, and I got a pair of earrings, a DKNY sweater and a white oxford with gold pin stripes all for under $20. I’m really proud of these finds, and I’m definitely going back there soon.

I’m getting better at this, but I’m also learning what things don’t look so good on me. I have a couple items I bought and was really excited about only to find that they lose their shape after a few wash/wears, and they really aren’t that flattering. That wasn’t a problem in summer, but now that it’s getting cold, I really need to layer more, and I have such a limited winter wardrobe. Looks like its time for another trip to the mall… wish me luck surviving the Christmas shopping crowds!
With every paycheck, I’ve been buying one or two things, a shirt here, new pants there, etc. I like doing it this way better than I expected because I have time to think out my purchases and only buy items that I really love and will get plenty use from. It’s also given me chances to find new uses for old things. Today, I’m wearing one of my new button-down shirt, and because it’s mean to be worn partly open, I’m wearing a cammi under it that I haven’t worn in a long time. I was surprised that they look so good together.
I want to find clothes that (a) don’t cost a fortune and (b) reflect who I am and where I am in my life. In high school, I was ALL about fashion, but when I moved out for college, I didn’t have the time or money to spend on clothes, so I always wore bluejeans and t-shirts (cute, but not exciting) now, I’m working full-time in a job where I can basically relax and be myself, so I want to get back into wearing clothes that fit my personality. I want to look sexy and classy and relaxed and fun all at the same time, and I want to spend around $20 per item except for special things like dresses or the occasional pair of dress shoes.
