If I don’t pull another hamstring this summer, I’ll certainly be ready to do the half-marathon in late November. 10K training has taught me well—cross-train, go slow, don’t forget about weight training, etc. Last year, I was pushing myself too hard, running 10K nearly every night after work. No wonder I wound up nearly immobile on the couch in August.
My sister’s talking of going out to Arizona with her boyfriend to do the Arizona Marathon over MLK weekend in Janaury 2006. I may wait for the Disney Marathon in February. Both places will, at least, be flatter than north Georgia. When said sister and boyfriend ran the Atlanta Half-Marathon last year, only a handful of people were continuing on for the marathon (which was just the same route of the half. The marathoners doubled back and returned to the starting line, while the half-marathoners finished at Turner Field).
