brainy 20 months ago

I have no clue of the connotation of the word
but when it was used for me
it was indeed just another way to laugh at me
and
I could picture myself
holding this overdevelopped head
unable to walk because it kept
falling all over the place

the thought of it makes me still laugh

bloke 21 months ago

when I was learning english
first came “man” and “boy”
then came “guy”
to reach “bloke” I had to close my books
and turn to reality

as everything else I learned in context and not in books
I’m not sure of the proper use and proper pronunciation
and hidden shades of meaning.
I thought it to be quite devoid of hidden meanings
but here it says it’s referred mostly to: “a man who is (usually) old and/or eccentric”.
I believed it to be very neutral, ah!

sap 21 months ago

too many strange apparently unassociated meanings not to be interesting!

that is to say, a place where no preaching can be given
