Skinny Bitch

Yeah yeah…I am skinny. I know. But I wanted to read this book as soon as I heard it was encouraging women to go vegan. It was a quick read, and I have to say almost all of it was nutrional revision for me (it’s very much the “how to eat: for dummies” approach).

But damn - this book is what SO many women need. A girlfriend (in book form) to say "hey. you know why you feel bad and sad and fat? Not because you are those things, but because the shit you put into your body is altering your chemical state and tricking you into food addictions that will only ever make you feel and look worse. And you know it deep down. And it's depressing. And being depressed is only making you eat MORE crap. So STOP EATING CRAP!!!"

I loved this book, and recommend it to anyone who knows they need a hard kick up the backside.

It’s also a fantastic book for those who would like to know more about the motivations behind a vegan diet, and for anyone who aspires to cruelty-free eating. these girls have their heads screwed on – and they’re, like, totally hot!

God is Not Great - Christopher Hitchens

I’ve just finished this interesting critique of organised religion and I’m not going to say anything more than, I loved it, and I truly think it puts Mr. Dawkins to shame.

AND that this is the first non-pregnancy or child related book I’ve finished in almost 18 months. Go me!
