apparently you need to wait until your baby is 9 months old, so despite the fact i’ll be in the UK in August my baby won’t be old enough…sucks.

i have decided that although i can’t give blood i can still help, i am going to join my local red cross unit and assist with first aid or thats the plan….

I really want to give blood, i’m young, healthy and and not scared of needles at all so i would do it regularly unfortunatly here in Australia i’m not allowed to because i’ve lived in the UK for more than 3 months nd therefore have a tiny risk of carrying CJD that human version of mad cow disease…i was born in the UK and lived there 17 years…even once i’ve lived here for 50 years i still won’t be allowed, on the red cross website in bold letters right beside aids it states this, i am genuinely upset that when hospitals in our region get down to 2L of blood i can’t help. My own way of helping out is i have decided if i ever need a pre-planned operation i’m going to have my blood taken before had in the weeks leading up to it and then get it back to save someone somewhere the ‘good’ stuff….it sucks…
