I’m headed back to Disneyland Resort (that’s Disneyland, California Adventure, the hotels and Downtown Disney) in California in five-count ‘em, five-days. It’s part of a research trip. I’ll also be seeing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men’s Man’s Chest at the El Capitan Theatre. I love seeing new theaters, yeahhh. I’m going to try to take a picture of the theater, and of its mighty Wurlitzer, to post here. Stay tuned! And look for other pics of my trip, at least the fun part and not the musty, dusty research part.

I love theme parks (and amusement parks). I think they’re wonderful examples of Americana, although I’m well aware that they’re not only found in America. I could have made a list of visiting theme parks in every state, or theme parks internationally. (I hear there’s a tasty one in Norway, but I forget the name of it.) And maybe I will, someday.
But for now, I wanted to create a more do-able goal if one which will take me a while to complete. Right now there are a whole lot of Disney theme parks. I’ve seen all the ones in the U.S.: Disneyland, California Adventure, and Walt Disney World Resort’s four major parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studio, Animal Kindom) and four minor ones (Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, River Country, and Pleasure Island). I’ve also been to the Indoor Interactive Theme Parks of DisneyQuest (Orlando and the now-defunt one in Chicago). I have yet to see Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, or Hong Kong Disneyland, the latter of which opens 12 September. Disney International—it’s a goal and an excuse to use my passport!
