A moment ago I upgraded my free flickr account to a flickr pro account. We’ll see if these $24.95 (OR €21,11 EUR in my country) are well spent…
One thing that led me to doing the upgrade is that the free account photo size is limited to 1024 pixels width (as far as I noticed). I hadn’t found any info about if the pictures that I uploaded before switching to pro are saved in full quality in the system (i.e. wider than 1024px). Now that I have this pro account, I can see that all photos I uploaded before the upgrade are available in their original size.
For those who have a free account and have the same question: The resolution won’t be limited to the size you can see when clicking on “All Sizes” button, flickr saves the files at the resolution you upload even in the free account. Only that you wont be able to view or share your photos in higher resolution until you switch to pro (so you will not have to reUpload your photos after that – fine).
So I’m planning to upload lots of my pictures in the next few days and weeks, as the monthly upload limit of 20 MB wouldn’t let me do this so far.
