I took out 1000R yesterday, but how quickly it goes! I have to pay for phone credit, electricity, train fares, yoga classes, vegetables, meep!
I must be careful. I wanted this to last me a month. Now I’ll be lucky if it lasts two weeks.

I’m at the end of my first month here, and I think I will have made it through my first month without drawing money from my bank account once, and with my last $100 bill yet to change. If I can be careful with June as well, I can really kick up my heels in Grahamstown and adventuring after, and maybe have something to start me off wherever I go. I still need to check my account balance.
I have 90 rand left from my initial money change. I need to try to make it to the end of the week on that, but I’ll have to change money again by Sunday for my weekly contribution to the communal Food Pot. I will be close to my goal- 3 weeks is a long time and if I can do a repeat of that (which should be easier once we start rehearsals) I will be in great shape when we go to grahamstown.
However, I MUST check my bank balance this week.
okay. I have 950 R. I know I will spend 11R on train transport today and I spent 65R on internet for the month and I’m hoping to buy a birthday present for a friend back home. I’ve already put 100 R in the collective food pot. I’ll note any additional expenses tonight, but my hope is to make this 950 last until June.
