Sneaky Clean

Last Sunday night I took two minutes to clean the bathroom mirror. I like the idea of a Cleaning Routine, but It’s Not Happening.

So I’m going to go with doing things as they speak to me. The mirror said, “Here I am, I’m talkin’ dirty.” I replied, “I’m taking a shine to you.” (groan)

(Gotta get your corny moments wherever you can.)

Operation Quick Clean

In preparation for my sister and cousin coming to visit (they stayed at a nearby hotel), I did an amazing spurt of cleaning that handled all the high spots. I did only what was necessary and did it quickly. Didn’t worry about what was behind the fridge.

The place looks great! A-ha moment. So this is why I’ve seen books on speed cleaning. You want to do it fast, and then you move on to the fun activities in your life.

I will go back and get behind the fridge. I’m motivated now.

A Little More Dusting

I’ve been sneaking in a little dusting as I go along. Hmmm, maybe this cleaning isn’t as painful as I’m making it out to be.

A Little Dusting

Yesterday I dusted what was right in front of me, and wouldn’t you know it, I was compelled to dust a little more.

Motivation follows action. (That is my favorite mantra.)

The Kitchen Floor

It needs serious attention.

Return Air Grille

There are two in our little townhouse. They need serious cleaning. (Note to self: No more procrastination on this.)

Range Hood & Fridge Shelves

I finally got around to cleaning these. How sparkly now.

Another Week with More Progress
  1. Vacuumed the traffic areas upstairs & downstairs.
  2. Shook out the rugs downstairs.
  3. Swept and mopped the kitchen floor. Whoa! Ten gold stars for that.
  4. Wiped the microwave, inside and out.
  5. Cleaned the seal of the dishwasher.
  6. Kept up with the laundry (yes, it’s a separate goal for me).
  7. Swept the bathroom floor.

And there’s more that I’m going to do today.

Frenzy, Top to Bottom
  1. Vacuumed the carpet upstairs.
  2. Vacuumed under the bed.
  3. Vacummed the stairway.
  4. Vacuumed the carpet downstairs, three times this past week.
  5. Scrubbed the mildew off the shower door.
  6. Wiped away the cobwebs from the ceiling and walls. Walls? How do spiders do this?
  7. Pruned and dusted the houseplants. They’re alive!
  8. Dusted the computer desk.
  9. Dusted the hallway bookshelf.
  10. Cleaned everything in the half bath.
  11. Cleaned the top of the microwave.
  12. Washed the patio doors.
  13. Washed the front door and the outside of kitchen windows.
  14. Swept the cobwebs from the front entrance.

I’m in heaven.

The Kitchen Floor

The floor is screaming to be cleaned. If someone else’s house had a floor that dirty, I’d be disgusted.
