Makes Me Happy — 1 year ago
I’m not happy when I’m bogged down, physically or mentally. I love this goal, and I’m going to keep on aspiring to greater lightness!

My desktop has only the papers that I am working on at the moment. My supplies are in the drawer next to me. I recycle the paper at every opportunity.
I have only the things that I need to be effective for the day. I removed my stockpiles of “comfort” objects, like the big box of tea, and the overflowing pile of extra napkins in my drawer. (I shared them by putting them in the kitchen area).
I am agile and ready to do work, not “settling in”. I don’t want to feel like it’s my home (in the couch potato sense of the word). It’s a place to be productive.
I have my favorite photo of my husband standing in the yard at my parents’ farm. It’s installed in the clever frame of my mousepad. That’s my reminder of why I do my work and attempt to do it without being weighed down. I’m traveling light!
I had a great a-ha moment this past week, that I am taking this briefcase to and from work every day without needing it. I’ve been using it more like an oversized purse. And I don’t want to take any work home with me, so it’s time to make sure I’m traveling light on a daily basis.
I lightened up on Tuesday and am now feeling less bogged down! Yay!
I do this pretty well, but I know there’s room for improvement. I’m not just talking about taking a trip either. I want to travel light when I go to work, go to a meeting, go to the gym.
Sure, a person needs to be prepared, but at the same time, one cannot anticipate every need. Traveling light spawns creativity and a kind of grit that I’d like to possess.
