donate blood regularly

Today I donated blood.

And today I was sassy with the staff. When I arrived, there weren’t any other donors there yet. I was the first appointment. They asked if I was here to donate, I exclaimed, “Yes, and I have an appointment!” (which I did, and I knew that this was always the second question, so I figured I’d save everyone time and answer it, too).

When the phlebotomist asked me if I had “ever done this before,” I said, “Yes. Have you?” Ha ha, she was only mildly amused. Oh, well.

I was disappointed when the very staffer who asked me if I was here to donate saw me with the needle in my arm and inquired, “Did you have an appointment?” Sigh. Aren’t I memorable? Didn’t she notice me, that when I was the ONLY person there, that I had said with great enthusiasm, “and I have an appointment!”

Sometimes my quiet and polite nature just has enough. The actual donating part went quite well. (Not that it usually doesn’t.)

I was able to donate at the blood drive held at my workplace this past Wednesday.

All went well again, except those extensive questionnaires are now on the computer. And the response buttons don’t load very quickly. As I was waiting for the buttons of “Yes” or “No” or “Skip this question,” I got distracted and answered “Yes” when I meant “No.” Gotta be more careful!

I donated a pint this morning at the office blood drive. All went well.

^{It’s been hard in the past couple of years to feel like I could cut away from my tasks and meetings to do this during a work day. But today, it worked out well.}

We’re scheduled to donate a week from today.

My DH and I gave blood yesterday. Next time (in April) will be a whole year of giving regularly.

My DH and I gave blood yesterday. That’s four times for 2007. I hope that in 2008 we can donate six times.

It’s so cool that my DH has the blood that goes straight to preemies (he is type O without the CMV antibodies). Life has gone full circle because he was a very tiny preemie himself.

My blood type is AB- (the rarest type). I hope it will help someone soon.

My DH and I are scheduled to donate tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll get back on track to donating every eight weeks.

Since I switched from one blood bank to another for my last donation, I got a shiny new card, where my donations can be logged on the back. Cool! My other card wasn’t so motivating.
