For the past 8 weeks I’ve been wearing a pedometer. It’s a health insurance promotion, to get people moving. I’ve done this several times now for several different initiatives with various groups of people.
I kept my tally here, on 43 Things. Yesterday as I was loading my daily entries to the promotional site, I discovered that based on my weight, age, and stride, it’s calculated that I need to average 15,000 steps a day to lose weight. Whoa, that’s a lot and that’s not what I’m averaging, but I believe it (and I should have noticed that eight weeks ago).
The 10K are to maintain weight, and yep, I’ve done a remarkable job of maintaining my weight, which is not the weight I want to maintain—it’s post-cruise. I like to do other exercise, so I don’t imagine myself walking 15K steps. I would be using a conversion table for the other exercise I love to get on a regular basis.
So on to the next level of monitoring my activity with my pedometer. Hmmmm; time to figure out how much I can increase.
