Analysis Time 17 months ago

So far the only goal I have met is #2, with the exception of one month. I have done #6 fairly consistently with some people, but I have lazy with others.

I am attending a “company” picnic this Saturday. I am going to ask Becki to help me “re-start” my business. It’s pass or fail time. I’ve got to make more money, and if I don’t get this job I applied for here (which I’m thinking I don’t have a shot at) then I need to make this business work. If I can’t make it work (in other words, if I am just too lazy to make it work) this fall, then I should seriously consider not renewing in the spring.

Premier Goals for 2007.. starting now 2 years ago

1.) I will have no less then two shows a month.
2.) I will attend training every month.
3.) I will attend National Rally in July.
4.) I will open a business checking account.
5.) I will replace a show with a booking, even if it means getting on the phone after getting no bookings at the home show.
6.) I will call my past customers to see how they liked their jewelry purchase.

On Task 2 years ago

I’ve pretty much been doing nothing with my Premier Designs business in the last few months. In fact, I’m not sure I ever started trying to build it! But a few things happened at work recently that clinched it for me. I have been working part time there for years, waiting to get a full time job, thinking I had my foot in the door. Now, however, I see that 1.) that is not going to happen anytime soon, and 2.) that is not what I really want anyway! I want to work from home so I can be here for the kids and finish my education. So I am going to do the obvious and build my business.
The first step is to GO TO TRAINING. This is like church for jewelers. I learn new things, find encouragement, and have accountability. I have also made an effort to make some local jeweler friends since my up-line is on the other side of the state and I don’t get to see her very much. :-(
Next step is to get excited! This is difficult for me because before I became a jeweler I didn’t even wear jewelry. I owned like two necklaces and my wedding ring. Some of the jewelry that other people like I think is too big, or not attractive, and I have a hard time not letting that show when I am showing the jewelry. I need to learn to wear lots of jewelry when I go out and get excited about it when I am having a show. I need to use fantastic “verbiage” and then let the product sell itself. After all, most women like jewelry, and they like it more when they know what to do with it! Also, jewelry is the number one gift given in the WORLD. That is why this business will work better then the other direct sales that I have tried.
Third, I need to invest as much as possible in the business. Buying new samples, displays, hand outs, having drawings for prizes, and (my personal favorite) getting Mandy the mannequin to help my presentation, will all pay off in the long run!
Lastly and most importantly, I need to build relationships with people and get out of my comfort zone. If I owned a restaurant for example, I would build relationships with regular customers, and I would advertise and invite my friends. I would not be worried that people might find me annoying or pushy. I would do specials and promotions and work hard at customer satisfaction. This business is no different.
I can do it. I know I can. Success starts today.

I will start tomorrow... 3 years ago

seeing as how it’s close to midnight and not a very good time to call people and ask them to have jewelry shows!
I will call Maggie and see if I can get four ladies on the calendar for the month of July. I’ve got to earn some extra money so I will be able to help us catch up the bills and get out of debt.
