get a car

for a car loan, as backup, before I become unemployed!

if my dream job comes through. It’s a considerable commute, the only bad thing I can see about it. Small price to pay, though, to escape this hellhole I work in now.

I’m realizing that I might need to do this. I have stubbornly been living without a car for some time now. I do it in protest of our car dominant society and to save money for things that are more important to me. It’s become part of who I am, not having one. BUT I have come to realize that not having a car is much too limiting if I’m going to be looking for work. There are too many jobs I can’t consider because they aren’t accessible by pubic transport, and one thing I’m considering is trying to do a couple of different things part time – and that also isn’t possible without a car in this city.

So… in order to move forward with my life, I need to do this. Unfortunately, though, it’s the idea of NOT having a steady source of income or of taking a pay cut that is driving me to this purchase, so I probably won’t be able to afford a newer car. I don’t want to be carrying a loan if/ when I decide to quit my job. There may be another old clunker in my life in the future then… Sigh.
