Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

although I have not been posting to it much lately. I am closing it with much gratitude.

Babymoon Gratitude Reflections
5/31/14 Saturday:
I was so very grateful:
  1. For stops and stretch breaks
  2. For relatively clean bathrooms along the way
  3. For ice cream and stumbling upon a Greek festival and other fun meanderings in SLO
  4. For our hotel room with its beautiful ocean view
  5. For delicious food and exploring new places
6/1/14 Sunday:
I was so very grateful:
  1. For wi-fi, allowing me to plan preggo-accessible hiking and other adventures
  2. For some really good food
  3. For trees, and creeks, and green, and familiar flowers and plants, and fog, and all that feeds my soul
  4. For a tip from a friend that led to an astonishing view
  5. For going to a nearby town for dinner – and getting phone service there, which allowed us to check on how Blitz was doing
6/2/14 Monday 7:51PM:
Today, I’m so very grateful:
  1. For a leisurely start
  2. For a safe and relatively smooth drive home
  3. For finding seat adjustments that helped reduce pain while in the car
  4. For home, sweet home
  5. For our sweet dog, who was so excited that we came back again

  2. For learning a bit more about my mentee’s past
  3. For more fresh fruits and vegetables from our CSA

I was so very grateful:
  1. For a surprise encounter with C and Blitz – and how happy our sweet dog was to see me
  2. For being to help out people who appreciate it
  3. For lunch with G after such a long time… so grateful she is in town and for her friendship in spite of time and distance!
  4. For free parking with validation
  5. For being able to leave some stuff undone without feeling too bad about it… progress

Missed a few days, and don’t think I can reconstruct all of them from memory since I haven’t kept any notes, but let’s see if I can at least catch up for the weekend.

  1. For making progress on decisions about things we need to get for baby
  2. For a fun excursion with the dog
  3. For good food
  4. For continued energy throughout the day
  5. That the fireworks weren’t audible inside with the windows closed – must be the cloud cover?

  1. That we were able to discuss a very difficult and emotionally laden topic and come to understand each other’s points of view better
  2. That my husband has wonderful intentions of making things better for me
  3. That it was warm enough outside to dry my yoga clothes before class
  4. For an indulgent dinner
  5. For a renewal of community

Today, I’m so very grateful:
  1. For staying productive today and catching up on some important work
  2. For a regrouping of 43Ters on PopClogs… jury is still out, but it’s nice to have somewhere to go :)
  3. That in spite of not having a rest today, I managed to get a good sleep last night and stay off my feet enough today that they are not sore and I still feel pretty good at the end of the day
  4. For my wonderful prenatal yoga class and spending some time connecting with other mamas
  5. For a delicious cookie – enjoyed every bite!
