which is dumb. But I didn’t get locked out of my car, and now I have a spare key. Thanks to Bigmighty for sending me to ACE Hardware.

Foiled

Actually remembered to try to do this today (C remembered). We went to two different auto parts stores. The first didn’t do keys, and the second refused to do it because it’s a chip key. We just wanted a door copy and they’d told us when we’d called before that they could do one there, but today they told us that’s against their policy. Oh, well. More motivation to get my butt to the dealer and just get a copy made.

My car

doesn’t have a spare key. Apparently, I can get a spare door key cut quite easily, but for the ignition key, I need to go through the dealer because it’s a chip key and I only have the one. I need to look into this soon.
