Well, it took me “a little” while but anyway. My apartment has been ready for months already, I just never got around taking pictures and I knew that had I marked this goal done when I was actually finished, I never would have gotten around photographing anything. These photos aren’t the best around and I got a bit carried away with an image editor (PhotoScape!) so the images are a bit random.

these are actually gift-wrappings but also useable as posters!

okay, so I love Audrey Hepburn. And black and white postcards in general!

poems in Finnish – not written by me, though

this one has been shown before, but I’m very proud of what I’ve done!

I can’t keep flowers alive (not even cacti, I’ve tried!), so plastic ones are my only option :D

treasures of the jewellery box

postcards of covers of pulp magazines, they’re on my bathroom door!

shoes! ♥

Finally some progress 9 months ago

I might actually soon be able to show you around this apartment, it should very soon look like a proper home. :) Today I bought a small dinnertable and two chairs, my couch should be delivered on Thursday and I should also be getting a bookshelf on that same day, and after those are on their right places, I’d say this place could really be called “home”. :) I’m also thinking about buying this big (140×100cm) black and white photograph of Amsterdam and hang it over my bed. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it, it has this wonderful catch: the picture is in black and white, but in the middle of the picture there is a bicycle that is red, and I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned just how much I love pictures like that. It would look great over my bed. I think I must get it.

Oh, and the clock. I bought it on Saturday, isn’t it cute? :)

Ta-dah! 10 months ago

There it is, my ‘huge’ project. I got this idea at the end of last year that since my year 2008 calendar was soon to be nothing but rubbish, it’d be such a shame to just throw it away, especially since the pictures were so beautiful (old black and white pictures of Paris). And well, I thought, why not frame the pictures and put them up on the wall. At first I thought of buying black frames for all the pictures but then I realised it’d cost too much and the amount of work required to get the frames hanging on the wall was too much for me (I’m lazy, see). So I went for an easier option: black cardboard instead, and it looks just fine to me. And the more I look at this collage, the more right it looks. Like it has been there forever, I’m very much pleased with it. And the pictures? They’re just beyond amazing.

the little details in colour 10 months ago

I’m so very slow with this goal but now I have something to show you! It’s not much and you won’t see pictures of my actual apartment… still, this is a start. :) I bought myself curtains a couple of weeks ago but since I had to go and sew them at my parents’ place, I had to wait till after Christmas and New Year’s to have enough time for the project. With some help from my mother I managed to sew the curtains, and then I hung them up today (well, actually yesterday but who’s counting!). I love the motif, although at first I wasn’t sure would the huge flowers be a bit too much (making the whole place feel restless), considering how small my apartment is, but no – the curtains look fabulous. :) I’m very pleased, this place is starting to look like a proper home now… Oh, and I also have another project going on (having to do with decorating this place, naturally), but you’ll have to wait until I’m finished to find out what it is, I promise to post pictures. If all goes well, it should look really good. :)

ideas but nothing more 11 months ago

I’ve been living here for something like a month and a half and this place still looks the same as it was when I moved. In other words – I haven’t done anything concerning decoration, furniture, anything. I’ve told everybody I’m trying to get in touch with my artistic side, that I’m trying out a bohemian lifestyle. :P But in reality I’m just lazy. I do have ideas what I’d like to do, what kind of things I need to buy, but I haven’t gotten around doing anything yet. The thing is, I’m not completely sure do I want to have a couch or a dinner table. I guess it would be wise but… I don’t know. Would I really need them? A couch could be useful, though, sitting on the floor gets tiresome after a while. And leaning against the radiator doesn’t feel too comfortable, either. But whenever I think about these big purchases, I get insanely parsimonious (what a lovely word! Absolutely charming!), which is actually very weird, considering that I didn’t think twice when I splurged over 200 euros for a pair of high heels. I guess that’s just how my mind works, me first and then everything else. :D I have to think about this. But one thing is for certain; I have to buy mirrors, I need mirrors. I have too few right now, I can’t live without mirrors! (me? vain? what are you talking about? :P)
