Not so hard
So I actually lost weight without even trying too hard.
I stopped eating out at lunch every day, and pack myself a cpl of sandwiches to eat daily. This cuts the serving size down drastically from the heaps you get at fast food joints or food courts. I used to get hungry for the first couple of months, but a small snack later in the day helped. Now I no longer get that hungry and dont really snack later in the day.
In fact when I eat at food courts I can never finish the whole serving anymore.
I used to wear 40 inch waist pants. Now after a year i’m fitting into 36 waist stuff! And this is without exercising.

So yesterday was my first visit to the pool in my gym. I figured this would be the best and most fun way to get a workout for me. I can barely swim half a length right now but it will improve in time – I have no doubt.
I was really anxious about going to the pool – i thought it would be full of young, buff, beautiful people trying to get a cardio workout, and that a tubby out of shape smoker like me would stand out like a sore thumb. But when I got there the pool was full of fat older people chilling out, or young people who could barely swim either.
At the last minute before I went to the pool my mind was trying to make excuses about going, but I just focused blindly on the step of getting to the car, then the step of driving to the gym. Then the step of getting out and hitting the locker room. Once I was there, it was too late to turn back :)
I just keep reminding myself that normally if I really wanted to do something, I would break past every excuse to do it. I remembered a friend in college that had no way to get to Church on Sundays (no car, and no bus service in the area). Every Sunday, he borrowed a bike from his roommate, and cycled the 10 miles to his church, in the hot summer sun, fully dressed for Church. Thats how people act when they really want to do something.
So stop making excuses and get your butts out there people!
