write a novel

I’m excited about my book at the moment. It’s recently taken a sort of a strange direction so I’m following it to see where it leads. At this rate, I’m pretty sure the first draft will be finished by February, although it probably won’t be 100,000 words long. At the moment it’s about 32,000. I’m predicting the first draft will probably end up being about 50,000 words but that’s okay because there’s a lot of plot and characters/relationships that need to be more fully developed. Can’t wait to see where I am this time next month.

I’ve been working on my second attempt at a novel for about nine months now (I ditched the first attempt!). So far I’ve written about 22,000 words which is almost a quarter of the way to my 100,000 word goal! Yay me!

I’m hoping to get the first draft done by February but I won’t give myself too hard a time if it runs on a few months. I hardly wrote anything between July and October because I was relocating from Israel to England and had loads to do (and virtually no computer access) but I don’t have any excuses now so I’m back on it!
