- I found an email address for Royal Mail’s door to door service (optout@royalmail.co.uk, found at the DTI website). I’ve emailed Royal Mail to ask that no more unaddressed mail or leaflets are delivered to my house.
- I’ve bought a wormery. I think it’ll be a while before they’re active enough to process most/all of my kitchen waste, because they need to breed and because it’s winter, but I’m really excited about getting the wormery up and running.

- I need to not be lazy, even occasionally, about recycling paper and plastics. Doing it most of the time is not enough.
- I need to make more of an effort to recycle glass and cans/tins.
- I need to make an effort to put the paper, glass and cans/tins out for kerbside collection.
- I need to take my plastics to a local recycling point, rather than drive to the Civic Amenity site.
- I intend to write to the council to ask them what they intend to do to improve the Civic Amenity site, and why people are allowed to dump materials that could easily go in the recycling containers.

- My garden waste goes into a separate brown bin. There are kerbside collections every week.
- I separate paper and plastics for recycling most of the time. I tend to end up taking these to the Civic Amenity Site, partly because the kerbside collection scheme doesn’t include plastics.

- I rarely reuse paper or postal packaging. I need to start doing this and stop worrying about sending packages that look nice.
- I need to use rechargeable batteries. I guess that means I’ll also need to get hold of a means of recharging them.
- I need to reuse the plastic bags I have, instead of buying bin liners.
- I need to make more of an effort to buy products that use recycled materials.

- I’ve donated unwanted clothes, textiles, shoes and books to charity shops.
- I bookcross. I hope my old books find appreciative new readers.
- I buy second-hand books on ebay.
- I’ve sent my old mobile phones to charities that request them.
- I use refillable cleaning product bottles (oh yeah, I mentioned this one already).

- I need to write to Royal Mail (Royal Mail Door to Door Service, Freepost, Beaumont House, 0X4 5BR) to request that unaddressed mail is not delivered to my address.
- I plan to buy a wormery so I can compost my kitchen waste.
- I need to tell cashiers that I don’t need a plastic bag, every time. It’s absurd that Tesco cashiers will automatically put my shopping in a bag, even when I’m only buying a sandwich. I need to stop being so neglectful, despite my good intentions.
- I need to start taking my own lunch to work, in reusable containers. This will reduce the amount of packaging I’m using and help to address the above goal too.

- I’ve re-registered with the Mail Preference Service to stop getting addressed junk mail, just as I had done at my previous 2 addresses.
- I have organic fruit and vegetables delivered by a local farmer. They’re delivered in nets, which are returned the following week, so it’s helped me to reduce the amount of packaging I use.
- I take my empty cleaning product bottles back to the shop for refilling, rather than buy new bottles. It’s a drop in the ocean, but it’s something.
- I use a fake Christmas tree, so it’s one less thing to dispose of in January.
