I finally gave in and bought pants. I just couldn’t go on wearing the same pants to work evey day and the same jeans at home every night. A girl needs some clothes that fit now. Century 21 is a great store for someone like me who doesn’t enjoy shopping or spending money.

I really enjoyed wearing my new vacation clothes and was depressed to come home to my ratty work clothes. So I decided I need to treat my everyday life as special too. I bought a few things mostly for work today. It’s a start!
I bought some stuff for my vacation – shirts, sandals, jeans. It’s a step in the right direction.
My clothes were in piles everywhere. I organized everything and put it away neatly. Whew. Next steps:
1. Weed (massacre)
2. Wash/repair as needed
3. Shop to fill in the gaps (there are a lot)
There is a store right near my office that carries petite sizes (they are hard to find!) and has been having a sale. I went in there again yesterday and got a few things. Yay! I’m proud of myself, as I’m allergic to clothes shopping (can’t stand it).
I’m wearing one of my new dresses to work and to dinner with my boyfriend’s mom, and I feel soooooo self-conscious. I think it’s a little too small in the hips. I tried putting on satiny underwear so it wouldn’t cling, but that doesn’t seem to be working. I have to pull it down when I stand up and you can see pantylines when I walk. I’m just not good at this dressing cute thing. The underlying issue is that I’m not happy at this weight.
I tried (unsuccessfully)` to get shoes yesterday, but in the process I stumbled on a sale with two dresses I actually liked that actually fit me. I got them at a fraction of the original price. And I don’t like shopping, so this is an accomplishment.
Now that my clothes are not balled up in a hamper, I can see what I have and I’m wearing things that used to be forgotten. This is a step in the right direction. I still need to lose weight or get more clothes in my current size. I also need sandals and flats for summer work and play.
I packed my clothes for the move, which was a great way to take inventory. I quickly thought about each piece before putting it in the box, trying to let go of items I won’t use (so hard!). I managed to get rid of about 2 medium garbage bags full … it’s a start. Now to follow through with the cleaning and maintenance.
The good news is I told someone about my clothes shopping phobia and she offered to go shopping with me. I trust her because she was a model so she knows fashion and dresses well. The only issue might be that she is used to dressing her tall skinny body type … I’m short with hips. Plus my budget is probably tighter than hers – I can’t spend 80 bucks on a tank top like the NYC fashionistas do.
