put up my rainchains and buy rain barrels

ok so i did this – sorta – actually I got a rain barrel for my bday (yes i am that quirky ;) and we finally put up the gutters and hung the rain chain and put the rain barrel beneath it. However it turns out that things are more complicated than they seem – the rain barrel i got recommends NOT using the rain barrel in winter – in fact they say you need to drain it for winter or void the warranty (and i just got it done in sept – go figure). ok – so more waiting. Also we were borderline on how many downspouts we would need – so i said lets just do the one for now and if we need another one we can do that later (but i really only wanted one – and one rain barrel per side of house) well i don’t know if it’s bcuz we just have the one downspout – or maybe you are supposed to use a little less slope when you use rain chains (have not seen any evidence supporting that) but when we get much of any rain at all the rain gushes down the downspout with such force that not only does it not use the rain chain – much of it does not make it into the expletive rain barrel!! who knew this would be rocket science!!
