I haven’t been swimming a lot, BUT I am getting better. I am now up to 6 laps at a time, which I repeat until I get to a mile.
It’s getting a lot easier. In fact the hardest part now is remembering what lap I’m on.

12×150 yds. = 1 mile.
Felt pretty good during this swim. Will definitely be upping to 4 lap sets next time.
12×150 yds. = 1 mile.
Actually I think it’s over a mile technically, but the sign at the pool says 36 laps = 1 mile.
Next step: 9×200 yds
So excited to be making progress on this goal!
Today I swam 2 laps at a time followed by a short break. I repeated this until I had swam a full mile. I even felt pretty good about it. My next step is to swim 3 laps at a time. I really do think I’m ready for this step too. I had a breakthrough with my form today and felt like I could swim forever!
Tuesday I did 13×100yd. I was hoping to do 18×100yd. but I was getting tired and losing my form. For me it’s more important to finish with good form than flounder through a few extra laps just to say I swam further.
So progress is being made!
Yesterday I went for a run, and apparently my knees didn’t like it. So I decided today would be a great day to swim! Of course I forgot how many laps were in a mile, and felt victorious when I was finished only to find out I wasn’t even close!
I’m not up to a lot of consecutive laps, but I have been doing sets of 2 laps at a time. I could probably push it a little more, but usually by the end of the second lap my form is crumbling. And I’d rather swim fewer laps with good form than flail for a few extra.
So today was 10 sets of 2 laps at a time. It may not seem like much but it is a lot better than what I was doing last semester.
