So I have less than a month before returning to school. It’s crunch time!
So I’m creating a list of all of the things I’d really like to have done. I think it’s pretty reasonable. My main concern is that I just need to get out of bed.

Well I’m back from vacation. My fiance and I traveled to Chincoteague Island in Virginia and then to Philadelphia before returning home.
This year’s trip to the island was very different than last year. We went out and about a lot and were able to experience a lot of new things. For instance we toured the museum (and participated in their scavenger hunt), tried a lot of new restaurants, visited lots of shops, and I had crab for the first time. Well I’ve had crab meat before but never a whole crab. I think I’ll stick with crab legs. Those are just the right amount of work for the amount of meat you get.
We also went to the beach a lot, and I swam in the ocean every day I could. There is just something about bobbing around in the waves that makes me especially happy.
Philly was also good. We only visited for a short time so for me it was more of a chance to get an idea of what I want to do next time I visit.
And now I am home, and all of the gardens are overgrown, and pesky woodchucks have been snacking on our peas. So I have plenty or work ahead of me to keep me busy. Not to mention I have another ride along coming up, and we’re planning on starting our living room renovation within the next few days.
I sure have a lot to keep me busy these days. My older sister is getting ready to leave for Japan so I’ve been visiting with her.
We have 2 flower beds, a vegetable garden, and several containers of plants and herbs which always need tending.
And today I went on a ride-along with a local vet and I learned a lot. We still have a little bit of cleaning to do in the kitchen, but it’s annoyingly close!
Another solid day. Continued cleaning the kitchen, made some phone calls to set up some appointments, and went to a dairy farm to learn how to milk cows and palpate for AI.
Well so far I’ve been doing well.
My fiance helped me get all moved out of my apartment and into his house. We went to Cleveland for Dad’s birthday. Cooking out, delicious pie made by my sister, and great conversation caused Dad to call the evening the “best birthday ever”. Of course he says that every year….
I also visited my mom, and helped her move some furniture that she sold. Today was also super busy. My fiance and I pretty much gutted the kitchen and scrubbed everything down. We got most of the way through when we decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and do yard work.
So far I’d say my summer is being put to good use.
It happens every year. I plan out all of these things I want to accomplish with my summer, and every year I end up just working or lounging. Then before you know it it’s the end of August and I’m getting school supplies.
This year is going to be different! I hope that just by listing this as a goal I’ll be held accountable. Plus my fiance and I have a laundry list of things we want to do this summer. And on top of that my twin is moving to Boston so we have things we want to do.
So technically my summer has already started, but I won’t be moving until Saturday. So here’s the breakdown until then.
Thursday: Move all of my boxes that will stay in my new place. Go birthday present shopping. Paint.
Friday: Recover with the fiance.
Saturday: Move furniture to the new local place. Then move into my fiance’s for the summer.
Sunday: Go visit my Dad for his birthday.
Well that gets me through the week. Here’s hoping it goes well!
