I long to plant beyond a season. to build something. to invest…to plant trees. bulb gardens. sweet-smelling shrubs near the door. moving water. places to walk and places to sit…
But I do not know where I will be next spring. and thereafter. I plant more herbs.

is becoming a really nice place to be (when it’s not 100 degrees.) Planted more flowers and herbs (kolantoa, spanish heather, lemon thyme, lavender and rosemary -also, some little pink annuals that I can’t remember the name of) and did some yard work this week. Spent too much time out there today in the heat of the day, even though I know better. Also underdressed for the yardwork, even though I know better.

I’ve planted jasmine, honeysuckle and jessamine to climb the fence. Also, gardenias and a tea olive tree. They’re all doing well, with buds and flowers all over. Only the jessamine was blooming when I planted it. I have started some herb seeds, and will plant them next weekend. I’m wondering if I’ll have time for a vegetable garden, with everything going on this spring…
