Practice the Four Agreements: Be impeccable with my word/ Don't take anything personally/ Don't make assumptions/ Always do my best

I had a realization today that I am not always impeccable with my word. I realized this because when people ask me my opinion on something, I tell them honestly and directly. But what I learned today is that some people ask you your opinion not necessarily to hear what YOU think, but they simply want an affirmation of what THEY think. Some people tell me that I come across as judgmental, and I think that is because I tell people my opinions when they ask for them, and I don’t affirm what they believe necessarily. I am not a judgmental person, but the way I communicate can be confusing. So, I am going to try working on responding to people’s questions with more love. I will still them what I think, but I will also tell them that their opinions are valid as well and that I respect them.

I am really bad at not taking things personally. I think this is best manifested in the fact that I am usually the last person to find out about things going on in people’s lives. I don’t know if it is because I am not approachable or something. It probably has to do with me not opening up to very many people. I prefer to have a small friend base so I don’t make an effort to invest in many people’s lives because I feel like I will become to drained if I have too many friendships to maintain. But then when my flatmate tells me that she is moving out over a week after everyone else knows, I am frustrated. Granted, I didn’t make a huge effort to get to know her. But I am definitely taking this personally. I wish I wasn’t because it is finals week and I don’t need this distraction.
