my next mini-challenge is to be able to dance at my senior prom without feeling silly or self-conscious. wish me luck lol..i have a month to do this. most people will be too inebriated to care how i’m dancing anyway, & if i don’t dance i will feel both awkward and boring. i need to let go!! =)

i’m not one for taking life-or-death major risks (i like to be a little on the safe side and i value my life lol) but i’m trying to challenge myself to be a LITTLE more adventurous, and do stuff that i’m usually too embarassed to do, because at the end of the day if you look a bit stupid for a minute, or are embarassed, it;’s not the end of the world. at least you can say you tried and the fear sometimes goes after that. if it doesn’t then so what? at least you TRIED and can learn from it. so if there’s something you’ve always wanted to do but are too shy, GO FOR IT!!
i am a very shy person, but lately i have learnt to sing in front of my friends. also a thing that will seem totally normal to most people, but was a source of paranoid to me was letting one of my mates drive me around. even though i knew i should be able to trust her, i am paranoid about being in a crash and i kept worrying she’d be distracted or turn out to be a terrible driver. i hate the feeling of losing control.
but you know what? today we went out in her car and it was great. she’s an awesome driver! touch wood that’s another fear i can cross of my list..
seriously, i’m starting to realise that while it’s ok to a bit self conscious and cautious, if you are too much of either of these things you end up passing life by and never really accomplishing anything. you need to face your fears & challenge yourself, and it will make you a stronger and more relaxed person in general =)
