... that poverty and ignorance are the two biggest problems humanity faces.

Whoever it was said that the problems are unsolvable, so it’s better not to try and instead to focus on something else (like curing cancer or heart disease).

But I think that they can be beaten. And if not entirely beaten, at least they can be reduced to the point that they are no longer the biggest problems.
