put together a kickass workspace

well, with chico taking the bedroom for february and john wanting to find a roommate in march, the dream of a home office is finished. however, i now have a job in an office and a desk that is just mine. and u shaped. and the biggest desk in the office.

so now my goal is to make my desk awesome: utilitarian & me. i workwith a bunch of old guys, so i think i’m going to put together some model cars of hot rods and place them in the un-usable portions of my desk for decoration.

i’ve set up an area that i use each day for faxes sent. and i took intiative, labelling the other side of my inbox. my boss said it’s SO much easier for her to give me proper documents now. i’m pretty happy about it.

two days ago i moved my bedroom furniture into my new bedroom. today i brought the futon in from elvis’ space to what is now the office. while we have an overnight guest, it serves as a bed but once the place is back to its normal residents, it’ll be a couch for kicking back in. it was no small feat because the futon is huge and the office is around a corner. i had to enlist the help of chico, dismantle and reassemble the whole thing. it looks awesome in here though. i feel quite accomplished.

and hey, if we ever rent out the room again, it’ll come almost fully furnished.

nonny mentioned that a friend of hers is very interested in the room that is about to open. but after a long discussion, john and i affirmed that we are not ready for anyone, even nick or chico, to move in quite yet.

so it’s definite. come february, i’ll finally have a place to stash/work on things.
