injury from the get go-
from the start-
OUCH
no matter how hard you try
you can’t be ready for
every
thing
really tough…
head wind-
lots of pain-worse then ever-in
a marathon…
my son kisses my cheek at mile 13
and rubs my head
my daughter reminds me
mile 17 or 18 i am running with a guy
in the military, i think.
we talk about
whether or not
we can
quit
and so i tell him that i have this friend who told me that
Every time you set an intention and follow through, it makes you stronger. Everytime you set your intention and fail to follow through it makes you weaker.
and i do
continue under all circumstances

My good running buddy and my husband are off doing a marathon this weekend and I had a solo run. It was so wonderful. We’ve had a horrible snow storm w/a huge layer of ice on top of the snow and frigid temperature since Wednesday. Today was mid 30’s and I don’t know when I’ve ever seen so many people out in my town. Trying to get their cars out, or shovel snow, or just walking. After being inside for so long, everyone was friendly. It made 2 hours pass with joy.

My running buddies finally showed back up and we did 20 miles yeterday. It was still cold-about 32-which caused my legs to cramp off an on. During the run I started to crave mashed potatoes. When we finished we stopped into a restaurant near the finish and had some. They were so good.

It’s cold. I’m sick of running. I want spring to come so I can get into my kayak and bike and swim in the lake and break up these long, dull miles. My running buddies have been at large.
Enough complaining. I have to keep after it until 3/18 and then it’s over.

I had so much fun doing the half here last year…and the whole marathon in Charlottesville was hilly and hot—-so I’m signing up to do this one in Feb.
