Tough to get tickets 4 years ago

I go to NYC a couple times a year, but by the time I figure out when we’re going, it’s always too late to get tickets. The Daily Show web site says that in June they’ll take ticket requests for January 2006. Anyone know another way to get tickets that doesn’t require such advance planning?
