I’ve now finished four courses in grad school. I really feel I know a lot more about student motivation and feel like I can really make changes in my classroom to help cultivate student motivation.
And I still have a 4.0. Yay!

So I finally hit my first challenge. Had to take the midterm and complete the biggest assignment in the course while battling strep throat. Sure, it all got finished, but not to my usual satisfaction.
And my punishment for spending the weekend on antibiotics and Vicodin? Probably a loss of a 4.0 GPA. I’m sitting at a high B right now, but my schedule for the remainder of the course is brutal so I might not have the time to buckle down to catch up. I’m OK with that, especially since I’ve learned more in this course than in the others put together.
I now have 6 hours of graduate level credit in education with a 4.0 GPA. Course three, this on on assessment, started this week. I may be more excited about this one than the other two combined.
Through week three of my first online course, I have a 96 percent average and my prof asked to use one of my assignments as an example in the future.
Took the midterm today and have an assignment to complete tomorrow.
I just finished my week 1 assignment for my first grad school class online through Lamar University. I think I rocked the assignment and the discussion board, but we’ll see how I did and adjust from there.
Online classes start on Tuesday. I’m lucky that my district has a partnership with a university to provide a Master’s degree entirely online and at an affordable cost. If those conditions weren’t in place, I wouldn’t be doing it.
Sure, it isn’t exactly in the concentration I want—special education. But, I’m already certified as a special education teacher, and studying curriculum design and instruction will be a big help for the class I teach.
I am very excited to get this started.
