Valentine's Day 2010

I have been practicing the Law of Attraction since I started reading “The Secret” a few days ago. I feel more light-hearted and happy these past few days.

I have already had one of the weird/freaky/great results the book talks about:

My husband, as sweet as he is, is historically not romantic. He’s one of those guys who just doesn’t seem to know how to be romantic naturally, but will do romantic things when prompted. Of course that takes one of the primary elements of romance out of the mix: surprise.

He knows I am not a big fan of receiving cut flowers. I’m not one of those “OMG flowers ew!” people; I just think there is something a bit sad about a gift so beautiful yet doomed to die in a couple of days. I also think red roses are kinda cliche. He knows that I feel that way.

So a few days ago I am thinking about Valentine’s Day. My husband is not even in North America right now, and as I noted, there is no precedent for me receiving flowers on V-day. I have no reason to expect flowers. Except I decide I want them. I really want them.

As “The Secret” prescribes, I visualized the flowers I wanted. I pictured a gorgeous, classy bouquet with a mix of red and white roses. Yes, red roses, which I usually don’t care for. I pictured the exact bouquet I wanted.

Noon on Valentine’s Day, my doorbell rings. I just know in my gut it is a flower delivery person. I open the door and the delivery man stands there on my porch and my heart almost stops . . .

He has in his hands the most beautiful bouquet of red and white roses for me, so like what I saw in my head that I almost can’t believe it is true and I think for a second that maybe I fell asleep and am taking a nap. It even came in a great red vase.

I haven’t had a chance to talk to my husband yet but I plan to grill him on how he managed to create this bouquet. I went to the website for the flower shop he ordered from. Since he is out of country he had to order remotely via the internet or through a very long distance call. Their website does not have this bouquet on it anywhere. The pictured vases are mostly white/clear; none have this bouquet’s vase. The only bouquet on the website that is a mix of red and white roses is not remotely close in appearance to this one.

I want to know how he managed to send me this!
