Read all the books in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series

I have finished the fifth and final book in the Hitchhiker’s Series.

I think each book was a little less funny than the one before it. Fortunately, the first book was pretty dang funny.

Some thoughts on Mostly Harmless:

I missed Marvin.

I missed Zaphod.

I was tired of Ford.

I wondered why certain characters were introduced in earlier books, given much attention, only to disappear in subsequent books.

I had to re-read the last two pages to make sure what I thought had just happened had actually happened. I didn’t like the final ending.

I missed that quick, witty, and seemingly effortless flow of language that Adams displayed in the first book. By Mostly Harmless, it seemed as if Adam lost a natural flow and was struggling (and not quite succeeding) to replicate what once came easy to him.

I’ve finished “So Long, And Thanks For All the Fish.”

Next (and last) up: Mostly Harmless.

I finished “Life, the Universe, and Everything” today.

I have the “Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide” book with all the novels in one volume. I’ve finished “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” and “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.” I’m more than halfway through “Life, the Universe, and Everything” and hope to finish it tomorrow, then be on to “So Long and Thanks For All the Fish.”
