Wanted: Advice

Any advice on how to get started?
(ie. finding a job and recommendations on which is the best way to learn how to do it?)
I already have a bartender book and know basic recipes. Is there anything else?

I will do one of the following:
Attend a bartending course (about 2 weeks) and get a certificate.
or
Just try to land a job straight up and go straight OTJ experience.
The hardest part now is getting a connection and an offer. I have been a waiter in the past so am familiar with the business but want to try something new. I enjoy mixing drinks for my friends and I’ve always wanted to have the good and bad experiences that go with being a bartender. Just one of those things I’d like to know how to do and say that I’ve done.
If it pays the bills, then I’ll keep the job until I graduate college.
