Slowly but surely 23 months ago

A few days ago the papers, books, and various other school type things sitting all over every available surface in my apartment had driven me to the point of craziness. I could look at the disaster no more. I needed a relatively quick solution. So I gathered all of this stuff up, sorted it into separate stacks of books, papers, spiral notebooks, assorted school stuff, and basket of stuff I have no idea what to do with. My apartment looked so much better. I’m no longer ashamed when I walk in the door. I was so excited I even dusted everything in my living room and vacuumed my entire apartment.

Now I just need to go through all of the stuff that I’ve sorted. I went through one stack of papers yesterday in an attempt to put as much of it as possible into recycling. It took forever, and there was still a lot of stuff left over—and I’ve still got one more stack of papers to go through in addition to the other aforementioned piles. Sigh…this is going to be a lengthy project.

Big plans almost gone awry 1 year ago

When I woke up this morning, I had big plans to spend the day cleaning, and by three o’clock nary a thing was clean. I did manage some productiveness this afternoon, taking down the Christmas decorations on my patio and then cleaning said patio. And so I wouldn’t trip and kill myself accidentally during the night I also packed up the aforementioned Christmas decorations. Now my apartment itself is still pretty messy, but at least I can go to sleep tonight knowing that at least one area of my apartment is clean—and that I’ve finished the nasty task of packing up my Christmas decorations.

Rock on! 2 years ago

I did actually clean my bathroom and kitchen yesterday, but it took forever because I was massively distracted by the Dead Like Me marathon on SciFi. But still—they’re clean, and I’m proud of myself for doing it.

Next is the big bad scary living room and the even bigger badder and scarier organization project I need to do.

Well... 2 years ago

Since I moved out of my apartment last week, I no longer have an apartment to clean. All of my stuff is in a 10×18 storage unit. However, while I’m in the United Kingdom this semester, I do resolve to keep my room clean and tidy, which shouldn’t be hard since I can’t take that much stuff with me anyway.

I need to get into gear 3 years ago

This afternoon the sheer scale of the mess was just getting to me. I couldn’t stand it any more, so I got up off of my butt and cleaned off my entry way table and desk. I’ve still got a lot of junk laying around, but it looks so much better when I walk into the door of my apartment, and that makes me feel so much better.

I’ve still got a long way to go though. Ideally I’d like to get my bathroom and bedroom clean this weekend, but I have a mountain of reading to do for school next week so I don’t know how much I’ll get done. I could however set a timer and clean for an hour. When the timer rings I could stop and get back to my reading. Hmmm….something to try.

I have a plan 3 years ago

The messiness of my apartment has beeen driving me absolutely crazy. Since magic fairies aren’t going to come and clean it for me, I have to do something, so I’ve worked out a multi-weekend plan.

Weekend 1: Take recycling to bins at the library
Do massive amounts of laundry
Clean laundry room and bathroom

So far, I’ve done the recycling and most of the laundry. Now if only the magic fairies would come and clean my kitchen. I’ll do that tomorrow since I have Monday off. And I have to fit my homework in there somewhere.

It's awful 3 years ago

I really need to clean up. The situation is getting pretty dire. There’s stuff laying around everywhere, and it’s driving me crazy.

Much better, but not there yet 3 years ago

I had a couple of friends over last night, and my apartment was in a shameful state. So I cleaned and tidied up the night before to de-shame my apartment. It’s not quite clean and neat, but at least it’s fairly tidy, and I no longer feel as if I’m living in a diaster area.

Clean! At least for a little while 3 years ago

Yeah, my place was sparkling and beautiful before my parents came to visit. Then they came and …spread out. Why do they need that much stuff for four days? They’re gone, and I have my apartment back to myself, but it doesn’t feel as clean anymore. I don’t think it is. It’s still picked up, but it doesn’t feel sparkling and beautiful anymore. So goal accomplished…for about three days. I’ll clean again this weekend, there won’t be as much to do this time, and maybe I’ll finally be able to put this on my list of accomplished goals.

time is running out 3 years ago

Okay, I’ve really got to get my place cleaned up soon. My parents are coming to visit in two weeks. Hopefully that’s enough incentive to get my place sparkling and beautiful
