At last!  — 4 months ago

I realized that I’ve accomplished this goal when I came home to visit my parents for the holidays. My parents don’t eat regular meals, and it’s been driving me crazy. Since I haven’t been home for such an extended period of time, I guess I didn’t realize this about them. They do fine at breakfast and dinner, but lunch, it would seem, is quite the elusive meal. I would just fix something on my own, but they don’t have any food that I could easily make for a light lunch.

At any rate, my mid-day hunger the past couple of weeks has made me realize that I’ve finally accomplished this. I eat breakfast and lunch every day and I’ve FINALLY stopped snacking for supper.

However, while I am eating at regular intervals, I’m not always making the healthiest food choices, so now it’s time for a new goal—I need to start eating healthier foods.

My new bad habit...  — 9 months ago

I snack after work instead of eating supper. When I get home from work or school every evening, I’m hungry but not ready for supper. So I eat a snack and, a little later, I’ll eat another one. Then I’m too full for supper. This must end. If I’m hungry when I get home in the evening, I just need to fix dinner. It would be much healthier for me that way because I put thought into preparing a meal for myself, i.e. I won’t make something that’s too terribly bad for me. When I snack, I don’t think about it. I just eat whatever is handy—which is usually not something terribly unhealthy, but not something should that should replace a meal.

So tonight when I get home from work, I’m going to promise myself that I will not snack if I’m hungry. I will go to the kitchen and make myself something to eat.

Victory! Or a small one at least. I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner today. I didn’t, like last night, snack on popcorn cakes for supper. Now I have a nice full and happy tummy. Yay!

This time of year sucks  — 2 years ago

I have to admit that I’m not doing so well on this one right now. It’s the end of the semester, and my whole life just seems to go to pot this time of year. However, I’m hoping to be finished with everything by next week, and I’ll have some time to cook some yummy healthy meals. I ate pringles and black jelly beans for supper one night last week. I still feel disgusted about this as I write it.

On a good note though, I haven’t had any caffeinated sugared sodas in over two weeks. Actually, looking back on it, I haven’t had any caffeine period in the last two weeks. So I’m giving myself a pat on the back for that one.

I don’t know why I have such a hard time eating meals. Believe me, I like to eat. Sometimes, I’ll go hours without eating anything, and I’ll get so hungry that I’ll eat whatever is at hand immediately—this usually doesn’t include very healthy food. Other times, I’ll just snack a little here and there and not be hungry at mealtimes. Either way, I need to stop my disordered eating patterns and establish a regular schedule for myself that includes healthy food. I think I can live a more stress free life that way.
