I've been practicing 23 months ago

Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.” Fun to play. Also, today I started trying to play Dvorak’s “Humoresque,” at the request of Ramona. She likes to sing about Rocket Soup and the Trusty Rusty Dance while I play it.

Second Year 23 months ago

This year, I’m going to approach this goal a little differently.

1. The Idiot’s Guide to Classical Music is on my TBR list for this year, and I’m going to read it slowly over the course of several months, if not the whole year.

2. As I read about certain composers, I’m going to also listen to their music and try to get familiar with them.

3. In addition, I’m going to try to learn at least one new classical piece for piano every month.

December 2 years ago

is Tchaikovsky. Nutcracker time!

November 2 years ago

is Handel.

I feel like I’m learning more and feeling more engaged with this goal since I started playing some of these composers’ music on the piano too.

October 2 years ago

is going to be Grieg.

And now that we have a piano, I’m going to try to learn to play a song by each composer of the month.

September 2 years ago

Rachmaninov

August 2 years ago

is for Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Hurray for Bumblebees!

Poor Dvorak 2 years ago

I barely gave him the time of day in June. So even though July is Chopin month, I’m actually going to alternate between Dvorak and Chopin, and I have to listen to at least one of them daily!

June's composer is 2 years ago

Dvorak.

May is Vivaldi month 2 years ago

Oh yes oh yes it’s springtime!
