write more short stories

OK, new goal. At least two well-edited short stories by the end of the summer… Let’s see how this goes.

This goal is definitely stalled for awhile. Grrr – I wish there was an option to put goals on hiatus or something, because I really don’t want to delete this!

I’ve started writing one, but unfortunately I don’t think I can finish it during the semester. It’s definitely the best idea I’ve come up with, and it’s intensely personal, so I want to make sure it’s done properly.

I used to write short stories since I was seven years-old and wrote a story called “Finally 8!” about the horror that was being the last one in your class to turn eight. Really disquieting stuff. Then I moved on to moralistic Aesop-style stories. Then I got jaded and wrote about social problems. Finally, it turned into a mix of absurdist situations and off-beat humor.

But writing short stories will always be a part of my childhood and my development into an adult. Lately, I’ve gotten away from it, but being creative in that way gives me a sense of peace and happiness.
