I got a picnic basket/backpack at the office holiday party. I’m so freaking excited about it I cannot even describe my joy.
It’s got plastic dishes/glasses for 2, real silverware, bread knife, adorable tiny cutting board, corkscrew, napkins, blanket and wine cooler and of course little pockets and nooks and crannies designed to hold all those accessories (little pockets make me giddy)!
I have wanted something like this for my whole life. LIKE MY WHOLE LIFE SINCE I WAS A LITTLE KID! But they’re so freaking expensive that I knew I could never ever afford one or even ask someone for something so expensive. I was shocked to see it in the white elephant exchange, apparently one of my coworkers got it as a wedding gift 10+ years ago and had never used it and decided they probably never would.

The good news is that we had a picnic after mountain biking on Saturday. Great day!
The bad news is that we left the table cloth on the table and forgot about it until the next day. I hope someone took it and it didn’t end up blowing into the lake.

I bought a picnic table cloth. It can also double as a ground cover.
My friend brought one on our camping trip last week and it made me smile so I bought my own. I haven’t been this excited over a $4 purchase in a long time. Now, if the rain would stop…

This weekend, boyfriend and I drove 250 miles to visit some friends in another city.
For the drive, we brought some leftover phad thai & fruit. When we stopped for gas, we used the gas station micorwave to re-heat the food, then took a beach towel to a grassy area. Impromptu picnic! It felt very sweet and special, despite being simple.

We had a picnic on a hike this weekend. It counts, although it isn’t what I have in mind for this goal. I want the picnic to be the main attraction, not just gross sandwiches (realized I was out of mayo and mustard after I already opened the can of tuna, had to use dijon and sweet relish) that were smashed in my day pack.

Attempt #1: Wind Fail
I could hardly walk outside, attempting to eat out there would have resulted in salad all over the state. We ate in the car.
The meal wasn’t as awesome as I’m going for either. I should change the name to picnic well, or picnic often or something like that.
