I got my first unsolicited comment (unsolicited = not my boyfriend after I specifically emailed the entry to him and asked his opinion).
Yay!

I also put in a search box! Yes. I’ve been wanting this, and didn’t ever notice it as one of the standard gadgets.
Does anyone know how to make a blog post so that only part of it appears on the main page, and when you click you get to see the whole thing? Often they say “more after the jump” or “continue reading”. Whenever I try to loop up how to do that google gives a bazillion hits for the phrase, but not the how to. That would make my page look a ton better.
I found my missing thumb drive!!! Wow, I really thought it was gone forever.
It has stats on every hike I took for all of 2007 and 2008. I thought I would just write a quicky entry about each of them to get a bunch of content onto the blog. But I found out tonight that there is no such thing as a quickie entry when I want to do a good job. I just spent 2 hours writing one entry!
Maybe one per day for as long as it takes I should get to my goal of 43 trail logs within a month or so. I have 9 so far, along with some other content.
Think about if this should be a group blogFor now, no. I my hiking buddies don’t seem the least interested in my blog, let alone excited enough to even want to participate, so that solves itself.Figure out how to edit and post trail maps without infringing on copyrights. – Still not clear if this is even possible, hoping to find a way to use GPS software and topo maps, or google earth, but not sure how or if these will be free.Seems not possible- Decide if this should be just a trail log or also a fitness blog. – This will evolve naturally I think. Its going to be a trail log, and sometimes include non-hiking fitness things that also happen on trails.
- Post 43 complete trail reviews – Obviously this one will take a while.
Find my thumb drive and post quicky summary reviews of all past hikes.I’m afraid it’s lost for good, my hiking file and a bunch of other stuff as well.Set up categories of label links for easy searching
Overall I think it’s going pretty well. I’m getting a lot of hits from search engines, although it doesn’t appear to be drawing many repeat-readers so far. Maybe that will change as more content is added.
