move to Asheville, NC

My husband and I frequently discuss the possibility of moving to Asheville. We have lived in South Florida for almost 6 years, and we love it here - the weather, the beaches, etc. BUT, we often think that Asheville may be a better place to raise our kids. While the home prices seem more affordable and the general cost and quality of living seem much better in Asheville, the one problem we keep running into is FINDING JOBS. Does anyone have any recommendations? My husband is an art director for a weekly alternative newspaper here in Fort Lauderdale, and I am a language arts teacher and writer. I know there are a lot of artists in Asheville, which is why I think we RARELY see job opportunities for my husband - there is probably such a low turnover rate because everyone who has jobs in Asheville wants to keep them!
