I went running yesterday, went to the half-mile mark and back again. I felt really good afterwards. I brought a friend, but she had never been running before and had to stop and walk a lot. She decided she doesn’t like running, so I’ll go alone next time. I feel less motivated when I’m on my own. She doesn’t need to lose weight anyway. I guess I don’t either. I am 5’ 3” and 125 lbs. I’d like to be 115 lbs and gain muscle. I hate that I can only do 3 push ups. I also want a nice tummy for my last summer with my friends before college, and for college. Healthy habits, healthy habits. So I’ve decided on a schedual: Running on Mondays and Wednesdays, belly dance class on Thursdays. After running I will do situps and pushups and stretching like we did in gym class.

One thing I am worried about though: I live in VT. Weather here is cold in the winter, and the ground can be icy and isn’t always kept clear. After running yesterday, I noticed my skin was kinda patchy pink. Maybe from the wind? There’s a girl in my class who is on the track team and her skin is kinda like that a lot. I don’t want my skin to be permanantly splotchy, I can find a different form of exercize if I need to.

Along with excersizing, I have been eating healthier. I have been vegetarian for 4 years or so, and was vegan for 5 months a while ago. I would eat as much crap as my friend did, but I am a good 40 lbs lighter than she is, and I’m taller. I really think it is because I am a vegetarian. Even so, I have cut back on chips, so I can only eat them on the weekends. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. Okay, I don’t have one at all. So for lunch at school, I pack either a salad or lots of veggies and dressing for dipping. If I have something important later in the day, like a performance or test, I bring a mini bagel or two with peanut butter. It gives fills me up, is healthy, gets my servings of vegetables out of the way, and gives me lots of energy.
