My suits 2 years ago

I really don’t like suits too much and don’t particulary like wearing them at all. I find that they are not that feminine.

Anyway, well purging clothes today, came across 2 suits. The 2 suits that I had worn for interviewing. The first one helped me get my first and second teaching jobs. The second one was so cute it was navy pinstripe and had a very nice white piping thing going on around the collar and sleeves. It helped me get my current job, the one that I really love where I am now.

Sending them to the thrift store will hopefully help some other woman score a great job too!

Wrist pain-a gentle class 2 years ago

Due partially b/c of my wrist pain, I took a moderate/gentle yoga class-which I loved. This caused me to be very present in the moment and be an observer during my practice. I am grateful for this option not only when I am healing an injured body part, but to focus more on my mind and spirit instead of just the physical practice.



Colonoscopy-Grateful for food 2 years ago

I had a colonoscopy today. After drinking 1 gallon of the prep, which took over 4 hours of drinking an 8 oz. glass every 15 minutes and not eating for over a day, my awareness concerning food was quite heightened. I never noticed how many references about food there are on tv in each show. I was watching the episode of Seinfeld w/people eating the candy bars w/utensils. I was imagining eating a piece of chocolate and the taste and emotions were coming back so clearly. I heard my husband biting into a crispy bagel from across the room and similar emotions were flooding. How do people fast? I give anyone who has fasted a great amount of respect-it takes so much self-discipline.
Anyway, the colonoscopy procedure has helped me become more mindful about how important food is and how grateful I am to be able to afford to provide myself and my husband with nutrient rich sustenance. Besides the people who choose to fast for their own purposes, there are many who go hungry in our country alone each day.
Has anyone read Eating Mindfully? I heard that this is a great read.

I have an assistant that will be leaving me. Although I do not want to have to start over w/someone new, I am very relieved b/c this person was so judgemental and very materialistic. There was so much negativity when she was around and the atmosphere was very hard to work in.



Getting lost and seeing a sunset 3 years ago

Yesterday I got my husband and I a bit lost (I have a horrible sense of direction). We exited too early and then came to a dead end inevitably making our trip to the store even longer. The bright side-since we had to travel backwards into the opposite direction, we got to see the beautiful sunset which we would have missed if I wasn’t so direction challenged :)
